Philips CDP reading fix...

Hello guys,

One of my Philips CDP (CDM4/19) has some trouble in reading. No problem in finding TOC and no problem in reading beginng tracks. However it does have trouble in reading some very ending tracks (most exterior tracks)..:bawling: .:bawling:

At first, I assumed to be the problem of laser diode, but I don't think the laser diode will be a problem later on. I did found that the optic head move fast and knock the center of spin motor when power switch on without putting any disk. The optic head should be in about center of swing path but it move to end of spin motor side.

What is the problem? TDA8808? SAA7210 faulty? Anyone has the same experience in fixing this problem.

Many thanks in advance.🙂 🙂

I had the same problem and it was of mechanical kind.
The cog wheel that moves the laser unit had some dirt under the lubricating grease.
The dust sometimes forms little hard balls together with the grease which might sit between the cogs.
(I bought a new CD player in the meantime finding that fault;-))

If yours look dusty I´d remove the grease from the wheel and the corresponding counterpart completely and put some new on.
