Hello. I have philips cd 210 player using lm833 opamp. What kind improvement is changing lm833 to ne5532? How about sound of these two?
Thanks.
Thanks.
LM4562 would be my choice for a player like this. The 5532 is an excellent opamp when used as a simple gain stage but I have reservations when its used as the final stages in CD players where HF hash (which is always present in the signal from the DAC) can I suspect impair the final result. The other options would be a FET device such as an OPA2604
i just went back to lm833 after I shorted my opa 627 in my Revox B225.😱
A bit less airy but still very musical and listenable.
i use only half part of the opamp for IV conversation, then run it with a good cap to my Aikido preamp. It might be the tube makes the lm833 "better". But I dont miss my opa627 for now.
Maybe I will use the rest of 2 pieces later or in another project.
first improve the PSU for the amp and dac.
and read a lot here on the forum. Just to mention a few:

I learned a lot from those guys and improved my sytem quite a lot.
i do have some Philips/Marantz cd players with tda1540 and tda 1541a and a Revox system.

Hi
just use opa2604/2134 instead the first opamp and desolder nexts, just feed the signal from the outputs of the opamps through into the output caps. see details on lampizator page and cheers.
Mine Philips cd 931 after those reworks (without the tube stage) is beating 2000eur cdplayers. Fikustransport
and of course desolder muting transistors!
