WTB Pete Millett phono preamp

Wanted to buy
Good point. The LR phono unit, either as a kit, even a partial kit, or fully built. This is for a friend that is lost in the woods about phono preamps, and I figured that this is a good start. Photos are important.

Getting the board from Pete is easy. Getting trannys from Cinemag, well, that might take time. I have built two of these so far and that is one of the issues. If someone has a pretty full kit of quality parts, that would be great. I can get a chassis.
But as stated, I am interested in whatever might be offered.

I have been on the fence about posting my Millet LR Phono for sale. Your post inspired me to take some pictures and offer it for $415 + shipping. The case was made by Landfall Systems and looks really nice.

I opted to go battery powered and will include the wall wart used to charge the batteries. I replaced the batteries last fall since the originals were in service since late 2020 and weren't maintaining charge like new batteries. On a full charge the batteries should easily play for over 10 hours.

Let me know if you have questions or want more pictures of something specific.

This would be right up there in the running! Very good with the battery option as well. I am a big fan of that. Please consider your price fair and very likely a sale. I have to contact my friend in order to get the go ahead, but there is no reason to say no.
I left a message with my friend and will have to wait for a call back, but I am really liking what I see. The sub sonic filter there, I noticed in the photos.
If this is an actual plug and play type scenario, I will have you ship the unit to him. If there is anything that might need attention, then it would come to me. I have had to edit twice because each question that I had was easily answered by the photos. Great job. 'I have nothing else your honor'.

Awesome. I'll put it on my system to confirm that Murphy's Law hasn't popped up, but the unit hasn't had any issues. The batteries are taped to the chassis with double-sided Gorilla tape. I don't think anything bad will happen during shipping since I used a lot, but pulling them and packing them securely in the same box may be a good idea. I am a worry wart about shipping and would hate for the unit to arrive in bad shape.

Would your friend have issues opening the lid to reconnect the batteries and sticking them back in place? I'd label the wires and battery terminals to make it easy to slide the spade connectors onto the correct spot.

I was thinking the same thing about the batteries Chris. We have good reason to be wary! Just unbelievable stuff can happen in shipping. In my friend's case, if you were to color code (label) every lead, then Murphy would lose the bet. He would have no problem with opening the unit up to reconnect batteries, but I wouldn't take the slightest chance for making it impossible for him to misconnect them. That's just me overthinking a bit.

I agree. Not only does it look good, Chris did a great build and I am jealous of my friend now getting a battery powered phono pre. I actually got two responses one right after the other in which a battery powered unit was offered. Keep your eye out on another one coming up for sale.

Many thanks DIY Audio.
