Hi there?
Can anyone say something about the Peerless SLS 400 subwoofer? Distortion or frequency response measuremens?
I'm very interested in using them in a dipole setup (two per side)!

Are you referring to the PA 15 inch? The home series only goes out to 12 inches to the best of my knowlegde.
Nope, I'm referring to the home series. It looks like the SLS 400 is brand new. Price is unknow, and so is the delivery date 🙁
But still, looks like a very nice driver! So if anyone had a sneak peak on this one, let us know!
Here some info:

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
The german magazine Hobby-Hifi showed that the Qts does not have that much influence in a dipole setup. So I'm not worried about that. I know of someone that has a 0.19 Qts dipole (test)setup (at the moment), and that seems works geat.
Besides, it can all be fixed with a series reistor or some DSP'ing (I intend to do that anyway).
On madisound, I saw that the SLS 400 wil ba available from Januari 2006. So I guess, I'll have to wait a bit.

The man him self, linkwitz, use the XLS 12" in the Orion and has an extremely low Qts.
Looks like it sound OK since many regard it as reference.
Not positive, but these could be exactly what you are looking to do, 2xSLS15's dipole.

Perhaps someone could shed some light as to whether this is so, or not. Sure looks like 'em.
Cheers,
AJ

I doubt that they're the same driver, the drivers in the Jamo have thinner spokes and a magnesium based construction while the SLS series use stamped steel.
Looking at the pictures, it could very well be the SLS 400... Then Jamo had them made already before, and now D-S-T descided to make them for everyone, but of corse had to make some adjustments 😉

To get back to this question: Distortion is still low, K2 little higher. They used a simple U frame with a Mivoc XAW 310 HC. With A W frame, you could reduce K2 further.
