I was wondering if anyone had any modification info on this amp to make the tone stack more effective, and get better distortion out of it? Also possibly adding a master volume to it, I have a schematic if anyone needs it for reference.
I've posted a couple of ideas on "The Gear Page" forum about modding Peaveys that might be of interest; if you can't do a search there I could possibly dig up the links. Bottom line in my experience is that I can only mod the distortion to sound "somewhat better", and so I'd generally just leave it off and use a pedal. My approach was basically to apply some of the mods borrowed from those who mod diode distortion circuits (like Tube Screamers) and apply those to the Peavey distortion circuit. As far as the tone stack goes, it would just depend on what you're trying to accomplish. Thats a beast of an amp.
I need a new tone pot for the bridge, that has started acting up but here she is after I did some mods.
