Hi -
I'm interested in using a low-res (VGA or QVGA) reflective microdisplay (either DLP or LCOS) to project images using a laser. By creating an interference pattern on one of these displays it should be possible to project images/holograms/patterns simply by reflecting a laser off the display. In effect the display becomes a programmable diffractive optical element.
What I'm looking for is one (1) of these display chips with some sort of common PC interface (USB) so I can simply send images (bitmaps) to it from a PC. I don't need a full setup capable of projecting color images, just an open imaging chip with a simple PC interface to xfer images to it. Unfortunately my budget is very small 🙁
Something like this would be about right - unfortunately sold out:

Digikey has a cute lil DLP 'pico projector' for a little over $300..

I could use something like this, but I simply need access to the chip, and I have no need for the extra circuitry to project full color images.
Essentially I just need a 'raw' DLP or LCOS chip with a PC interface.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks, Eric
