On top of that the 901's have a equalizer they need to run through so if a Pass Labs amp was powerful enough to drive them the quality of sound would be tarnished by their own required component.
I'd think an A40 would run them at modest levels
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I was an owner of 901's series 1 years ago and run them with Crown D150 which sound good but a lot better when I bought a Crown D300 with close to 200 watts per channel. A Pass amp would sound great with close to 100 watts but not a Firstwatt with 25 watts. My understanding is the series 11 were somewhat more efficient but those speakers need power.
I had a gfa-535 driving a pair in my garage. It was more than enough, even for irresponsible levels heard from the driveway. But then I also turned mine around backwards and mounted them to the ceiling 🙂.
Ya, that's what I was thinking. The S1/S2 might be a good contender at low listening levels and not for home theater.
Yeah, I remember the The Legend of EL PIPE-O.At the levels I listen to, probably the FW amps would be enough.
It is one of my favorites.
Interesting.
I too, bought a 901 setup when they were in Fashion.
Worst speakers I've ever owned.. memorably so. Pricey as well... grrr.
I couldn't lose them fast enough.

The Adcom GFA-555 would be a good match for this speaker. And I do not agree that the BOSE is a bad sounding speaker. With the right components and the right room they can sound quite good.
