Hi
I've been using my Panasonic DVD-H1000 as a cd player for awhile now. Just for fun i decided to take look at the output board..
there are a total of 8 JRC op amps, 4 - JRC 4580 and 4 - JRC 2114. (as shown in the pic)
Would it be worth while changing them to BB OPA2604/ OPA2134 ?
Thanks,

It might be worth trying for interest and the OPA2604 would be my choice as sonically it's an excellent performer. Two opamps in the pictures appear to be PSU related so I would not replace those... no point.
Thanks Mooly for your reply.
the row of op amps (3) per channel are in a this arrangement
JCR 2114 - JCR 4580 - JCR 2114
would i try swapping just the 2114's for OCA2604s?
thanks

You can do that, or swap all 3 for the 2604.
The 4580 has a high output current capability for an opamp (around 50ma) but I find it hard to believe it swings that kind of current in an analogue stage like this.
No doubt there are sound technical reasons for the choice of opamps used but then again we can say the same for all the products that use the 5532.
You are going to have to try it.

Put a 100nF capacitor between the +ve rail and ground, another one between -ve rail and ground and one between +ve and -ve rails.

I was looking back at other top DVD CD players like the Panasonic H1000 DVD CD player in 2000.
You had the Toshiba SD9200 DVD CD player, the Denon DVD 9000, Pioneer Elite DV-09, Pioneer-Elite-DV-37, Technics DVD-A10 and the Sony DVP-9000es DVD CD player with SACD.
You'll see all these great players on Ebay.
There basically for DVD is your using a CRT TV.
I'm using the Pioneer DVD-09 player as a transport with a Kora Hermes tube DAC. This combo sounds great. The Pioneer DVD-09 sounds amazing as a transport.
