PA Recommendations

I teach at a small school in Thailand. I want to update the sound system in my room.

Rectangular, cement walls, average height ceiling, seats 48.

I'm looking for recommendations for a system - I think I want a powered 6 channel mixer and decent speakers and am open to alternate suggestions.

Specific parts will be appreciated.

Hi Keith! I think that the PA experts will require more information.

What is your estimate of the volume of the room?

Is the PA system intended for voice reinforcement, music reproduction, or both?

How much of this project will involve DIY? (For example, you might buy the powered mixer, but build the PA speakers.)

There you go, I've got your thread off to a start if nothing else!

Imagining a room to comfortably seat 48 and nice area to present from...

My choice, and I'm biased, would be 2 DIY'd Multi Entry Horns typically 60Hz to 18000Hz for big 3 way ones.

2 DIY'd 30Hz Tapped horns for the bottom octave.

4 stereo amps, a DSP controller like miniDSP flex 8.

Lots of time to build and set up, but what a system!
You'd need a measuring mic and sufficient knowhow (acquired from DIYaudio) to set the MEH horns up and the subs in room.

Get the 2 MEH horns up high enough to reach all ears.

Subs in the corners.

DSP to do the X/Os, time alignment and PEQs to manage room modes.

Would be a great system.
