Owners of the QA-2500, Come on in.....

Okay, everything was running great with my QA 2500, but now it's not letting me change the video settings!!! Everytime I try to change the contrast or the color etc, a message flashes on the screen as "Invalid".

What's even more odd is that when I first began using the panel, it was allowing me to change the video settings and such with no problems.

I sat there for hours trying to figure out why the system won't allow me to make changes to the video settings anymore. I went through every menu like 100 times, and still could'nt find anything.

I figured I might have switched something in the settings that is preventing me from making the changes but I can't find where I might have done it.

Is there a setting that I am missing somewhere? Do I need to turn that setting on or off?

I don't have a manual so I have no idea what just happened or how to troubleshoot it.

If you are a Sharp QA-2500 owner and you have a manual or knowledge of why this problem may have arised, PLEASE feel free to respond ASAP.

Thanks!

Man, Sharp has REALLY abanndoned their LCD Panels, LOL. I called Sharp and I got no help at all trying to buy a manual.

I got the run around to like 12 different numbers. I called every sales distributor Sharp has and they all say the Manual is back-ordered!!!

I'm still trying to figure out how that is possible, it's not like a billion people have QA-2500's or something. Why don't these companies keep this stuff in a database and make it printable? Don't they realize that people may need actually need the manual even after the product is no longer mass-produced? Seems like common sense to me.

One guy at Tritronics told me that I would'nt see a manual till AT LEAST October!

I wish the QA-2500 was'nt so rare.

WOW!! $10... that seems steep to me.

I don't know that I would pay $10 for an original, let alone a scan. Take a look at this link

http://www.ipdb.org/search.pl?any=twilight+zone&sortby=name&searchtype=quick

This is a direct link to a pinball machine called Twilight Zone. It is one of the all time favorite machines for pin-heads. I wish I had one.

But almost all the information you see on that link is all entered by the online pinball community. That's what I was thinking about that we need for LCD panels, OHP's, LCD monitors, etc

If I had a scanner, I'd be happy to scan in the manual to my QA-1650. I realize that getting the scans of all this material is a lot of work, but that's why it would need everyones involvement... One person could do it, but they'd end up charging $10 a pop for the info.

My QA-2500 just arrived today; of course without a user manual.
I do have the same problem with those A/V options as described above. The screen is way too dark and all I get when trying to alter the settings is ... guess what ... "invalid".

@Projecto7
I just needed to have the screen size at the smallest setting before the panel allows me to change the video settings.
What do you mean by that. Changing resolution in Display Properties or on the panel? The Panel doesn't let me.
In DP going from 1024x768 to 800x600 doesn't help and my driver won't allow me to go any lower (hell knows why).

@El Nino
I got a manual on the way! I ordered it from a place in Sweden.
Did you already receive it and are you willing to share it with us? I'd be really glad, as the sharp's menu isn't very intuitive.

Thanks for your effort, guys!

I WILL share it, but I have not received it yet.
They said it would take at least 3 weeks, and I
think we are coming up to that.
I will scan probably all pages, then post it all.

I wish we could get a thread going for each popular panel.
With just info, pics, manuals and results.(And not get off topic!) It seems that there
are quite a few DIYer's out there that are not willing to share manuals unless they get paid. I did spend my very hard earned money, and yes it will take some time to scan and post it all,but I will still share everything that I got. With nothing expected in return. I keep reading that alot of guys cry that they just don't have the time. Cow Dung! If you got time to sit and read these forums ,then you got time to do some scanning. And about that copyright crap, if Sharp or nView or whoever even cared just a little about these panels, info would be on their sites. The thing is they just don't give a damn!
I say post away all manuals.(In separate threads.)Then sit back and see if lawyers in dark suits in suv's are parked across the street waiting for you to come out. I DOUBT it would happen!
That way we could get somewhere instead of going over and over the same stuff again and again! The way the Koreans in the other thread did it. C'mon GUYS, DO IT FOR YOUR COUNTRY!THE OLD RED,WHITE AND BLUE..........

If you have the remote just press "enlarge". Press it to the smallest screen size (it does it automatically).

After it's down to the smallest screen size, you can make chages to the video. It won't allow you to do it when it's in the largest size.

If you don't have the remote then you're screwed because there is'nt an enlarge setting on the panel itself, or at least I have'nt seen one.

I do have the remote control but the "ENLARGE" button only gives me one large screen size (4x zoom). Pressing the button again returns the screen to normal size. In this enlarged mode I can't even access the menu and in the normal mode everything is like it was before. No "COLOR", no "TINT" and no "BRIGHT", just the "INVALID" message.
Are you sure it was the "ENLARGE" button that made the difference?

Does anyone else have an idea what is holding the panel back altering these settings in the "A/V ADJUST"
submenu?
In 22 hours there is a football (soccer) game I really have to see on my projector.

It would at least be interesting to hear from other QA-2500 owners if these settings are supposed to work. I still hope, that I can brighten up my screen a little, because the picture is way too dark (no, it's not my 8000 Lumen MetalHalide OHP 😉 ).

Then I would say that something is wrong with your panel.

I know for sure that when I had the screen in large mode, I could'nt change anything and it always said "invalid"

Then when I changed the screen to the smaller mode, I was able to make changes to the video.

I'm Just curious, when you're trying all of this do you have a video source running into it? I don't think you can change anything if video source is not hooked up to it either.

Did you mess around with all those settings in PC select, VGA, etc.? I suggest you don't touch those, as that could cause a problem too.

I'm having the same issue with my panel as far as darkness goes. Even after I adjust the brightness it's still not right. For TV and Movies it's alright but for video games especially Video Football games, it's unacceptable. I even lined the back of my screen with Foil and it made it look cloudy. I thought it would send the light forward and produce less wash out but it did'nt make it any better just more clouded.

I gotta do some research on how to improve my setup, otherwise I'm putting all of the equipment up on EBAY and calling it a wrap.

Manual!

I got it!
I WILL scan the whole thing if you guys think that I should.
What do you think is the best way to upload it on this thread?
PDF?
Scan and post each page on its own or what?

Oh by the way I didn't get it from Sweden(That was something else!), it came from here. http://www.tritronicsinc.com/
The part # is IB-QA2500
JUst incase some of you want the real deal. Like I said though I will be posting!

PDF!!! In one piece.

Thanks in advance El Nino. This is a truly heroic deed and will be rewarded by the gods in the afterlife. :clown:

As for my problem described above ... Obviously you can't adjust those settings when the panel is connected via VGA-In. You can when connected via Video-In, which of course gives a very crappy image. Honestly this doesn't make sense to me. Why shouldn't I be able to change brightness on a monitor? Let's see what the manual says.

For games I adjust brightness and contrast via software now. Found a handy little tool, that's doing the job almost perfectly (Gamma Panel). You can adjust gamma, brightness and contrast, make profiles and assign hotkeys to them.
I can switch easily to any brightness/contrast level in any game, with just a keystroke. Very handy.
For movies my display-driver allows me to adjust my overlay picture seperately.

So I'm fine now.
Thanks for the replies.
