Can anyone suggest a reliable method to clean the range switches of an oscilloscope ( Hitachi ). I tried spraying some contact cleaner but it seemed to work only for a short while. I couldn't get directly to the switch which requires a complete removal of the front panel etc.
What is the most effective spray cleaner for these switches?
Thanks.

Sad to say, you may have to actually get in there with solvent and swabs. And probably needle-nose pliers Spray cleaners are good for light duty, but when a switch is starting to get really dirty and the contacts are a bit loose, there's no way around the manually-intensive dis-assembly and service.
Darn, I knew it . It had to be a tough way to get it done !
I hope I don't break anything on the way in ! Such a pity. This scope didn't see too much usage either.
Thanks Sy.
I'll wait for a 'good day' before opening up the scope 'again' !

And spray cleaners do work best when you actually get the cleaner to the moving parts. If you can;r get at teh switch from the easy direction, you will have to access it the hard way.
I can;t imagine why my favorite, the Deoxit, wouldn't be the best for those switches.
