I talked to a Peclamp sales guy once on a similar setup; the price was US $700. I thought he was kidding. He wasn't so I backed off. I doubt this will be any cheaper.
Heya buddy, they are a great lamp but possibly over spec'ed for diy, they also arent cheap.
Now you know how fussy i am with lighting and gear, i certainly wouldnt buy one for even $300, why? lets look at a few things.
Eficentcy: That bulb puts out 10k lm. We can get a bulb that puts out 12k-14k lm for around $35.
Life span: That bulb will last 3-4k hrs, our $35 bulb will last 10-12k hrs.
Availability: That bulb is a DC bulb, they are hard to find, while our $35 bulb is a readily available industrial shop light running on readily available AC gear.
Reflector: Has this bulb got the right reflector for your frensel? With a parabolic, the reflectors beam angle must slightly over match the angle of the frensels focal lines, or it wont work. If its an ellipsidal, the focals must match the frensels focal lines.
Arc size: While this lamp may have a very small arc for what we need, and to be honest quite perfect, i think the pros of the $35 bulb will outrun the cost of this DC. The quality difference from our $35 bulb (10mm arc) wont be that much difference. At the end of the day ask yourself this: is it worth all of the hastle and cost to have a 1.3mm arc?
Price: The obvious.
Outcome: My advice, buy the bulb that has all of the good points above to suit your needs. We can almost certainly get a decently well matched reflector these days for a bulb at a good price, pro or non pro.
