Opinions on Schiit Bifrost Multibit DAC

Hi all,

Do you have opinions on this DAC?

I see latest upgrades are included in this model by default (400EUROS, already including Usb Gen5 and 4490 Delta Sigma DAC.)
I've seen great reviews on the Multibit upgrade (600EUROS), but measurements seem consistent on this model and report worse resolution (less than 11bits effective), and worse THD/IM/sensitivity to input jitter.

You can even see this guy doing subjective reviews and performing decent recordings of different DACS: Suprisingly (recording is not perfect and youtube is compressing), I manage to hear differences among dacs!

His last video (part6) shows the final scores, looks nice.

I have several questions:
- Is the Usb Gen 5 "reclocking" going to solve jitter input issues?
- Is the reclocking also used for SPDIF/Optical inputs as well?

You might try looking at a review of it on the audio science review site. This site does measurements of audio equipment. They won’t necessarily tell you how it sounds but rather how well constructed and potential problem areas.

Thanks all for the feedback.
Yes, I saw the review on Audio Science and also others.
It is in DIY because I plan to tweak it around as I have tools and components at disposal.

Gungnir is attractive with its balanced outputs, but this plus a new amplifier is out of budget at the moment for me.
