Opinion on visaton kits

Does anyone have experience with visaton speaker kits?
How good/bad are they?
Maybe I want to build one because I can easily buy them here.

Reason being: I recently bought an unknown set in a second hand store ( pic included) and I kind of like the sound of them. After I do the visaton I would do a zapf zrt... I'm a bit 'scared' of the crossover 'cause I'm a total Electronics noob and with the visaton kits they are pre-build.

There are a lot of kits available:

I believe you do the cabinet yourself. The aluminium drivers have a particularly high reputation.

I think I have found your one, VIB 170 AL:

Where it gets fun, is you can find the projekte file, download it to the projekte folder of Boxsim and start to model it yourself in 5 minutes flat.

I don't think you can go wrong with a kit. Since you can model it completely if you think it needs any changes.

Hi.

My current speakers are loosely based around the Vib130TL kit.

Basically I built a different TL design but with similar geometry and lifted the crossover. I made one small addition, but I could live without it and be happy.

The drivers and kits are well thought out, some have good reviews in German magazines.

The drivers are largely well built, the more high end drivers more so, as you would expect. Build quality is very good.

Do I understand correctly that the scanspeak drivers of the zrt fit my cab and crossover? The current one is a 170al and a g20sc. What amazes me about these speakers ( and everybody else who listens to them) is the bass. I've had friends over looking the sub...

Would the zapf be a major upgrade?
