Hi Everyone,
I am seeking subjective opinion on these 2 high efficiency midwoofers for a high efficiency speaker project. Looking for opinion/review/experience with either of these speaker drivers.
I am particularly interested in how you ranked them in terms of resolution etc.
Thanking you in advance.

Anybody tried either of these and would like to comment on how it would perform in a home environment as a midbass? Especially in areas of detail?

Sorry buddy. Weird though, lots of Seas and Faital fans here. Hang tight.
Maybe its the elections.... and the aftermath...

Oon,
I don't have any experience with either driver, but looking at the specs they are different animals, require different enclosures and perform differently. So IMHO the chance of finding someone that has had direct experience with both drivers is pretty small.
The Faital is an high efficient midwoofer, optimized for a closed box aimed to the pro audience. Inserting the TS parameters into Unibox(*), a good box for this driver should be a 30L closed one for a -6dB point at 70Hz. Hardly a bass shaker.
The Seas is an efficient midwoofer, optimized for a vented box aimed to hi-fi. Again a simulation in Unibox gives a vented box of the same volume (30L) but with a -6dB point at 40Hz. A much smaller 15L closed box yields a -6dB point at 65Hz.
So for the same box volume the Seas gives you quite one more octave in the bass, at the expense of a smaller efficiency. Or the same bass extension with a much smaller enclosure. Your choice, you have to decide what is your goal.
Ralf
(*) Unibox calculates the Faital as a 92dB driver, and not 95dB, so either the efficiency stated by the manufacturer is wrong, or are wrong the TS parameters. For the Seas efficiency and TS parameters agree.

Hi,
Thanks for the simulations. I wasn't looking for someone with experience with both speakers. Just either one. I just wanted an opinion on those speakers if they have a good experience. You are correct to say they have fairly different T/S values, the only thing they have in common is they are both relatively high efficiency.
I am particularly interested in their performance in terms of detail and resolution especially in the mids.
Thanks

I have a pair.
These are nice speakers, but don't expect miracles and design accordingly. The 8FE200 does well in a relatively compact MLTL. An MLTL can bring F3 lower than is possible with either vented or sealed cab while preserving the efficiency of a pro driver. As is typical with 8" speakers, cross it at or below 1800-2000Hz. Great for flea-watt tube amps.
I measured the TS parameters and found them pretty close to published specs, which is a rarity these days. Good build quality too for the price.
