hello,
i have read a lot on this forum and it is very interesting.
i have seen beautifl designs.
i'm intrested in an open baffle construction for the midrage;
ATC is a brand which does it well, but it's very expensive.
scan speak does it also good in this construction; the 8535, of 8542, 8460; but at this moment i can get rather cheap the 8530 revelater, would this be a good dirver for the open baffle, i can get it a 100 euro ( i live in europe)
as a tweeter i would go for the 9700; (9900 is more, but is it also better )
as a woofer i would go for a paper scan speak; or has anybody something betters to offer (that doesnt cost a fortune?)
thanx guys

My suggestion would be to keep it simple and use the Ciare 'full-range' driver (49 euros) and then later add some dipole subs if you need the extra bass.
Will your proposed woofer be on the baffle or in a box?

the woofer would be in a closed box

I can't comment on the choice of drivers but it is a sensible enough design although I would rather do it with active crossovers.
I saw a similar design with active crossovers and the bass box had two drivers firing front and rear with a little EQ.
My rule is unless you have enough experience with designing a ctossover, it is always best to use the same drivers of a tried and tested design (unless you want to do a lot of experimenting).
that's completely true,
but you suggest to buy a full range, and put it in an open baffle ?
indeed, it's not that silly. I never thought of that, i always thought of a single driver in an TQWT;
i'm gonna look a little bit around, thanx alot allready

Could you post or email me their address (web or real)? As a colleage of mine is from Belgium and goes home regularly, it would be easy to mail-order stuff there.
Thanks,

For midrange you might consider the new Excel driver from Seas, check this: http://www.seas.no/excel_line/excel/E0037.pdf
Also check at the german magazine Klang & Ton, I believe. They've tested a new open baffle design, built by I.T. electronic, if I don't remember wrong.

I am confused, didn't you say above it was NOT diyparadiso? Apart from that, the list the 8530 at €178.
