i'm looking to build a simple preamp using the opa 627. i'm curious about this opamp and have not used one yet. however, I'm finding it hard to get my hands on a basic preamp schematic. i'm looking for something to take guitar level to line level.
any hints appreciated thanks.

You could start by checking out the manufacturers data sheet. Some data sheets are full of examples of how to implement the part. Texas Insturments made this part (along with some other companies) and this link will get you started.

There is enough information here to breadboard a circut to play with.

You don"t need a Preamp specific to that chip , most chips of the same type are interchangeable so just find any Guitar preamp schematic , a simple google search will bring up hundreds of thousands of hits ....
