You might call the Chief Engineer from a locat Radio or TV station. I'll bet they have a few of those power cords which are collecting dust.

They are often referred to as "tape recorder" power cords. You might find some in retired tape recorders or film projectors.

I don't believe these are the tape recorder cords. Those have a rectangular connector body. The ones I'm looking for have an oval body to fit in an oval socket.

They show up on eBay every now and then--but generally the seller's know that they are worth about as much as a half-dozen hen's teeth and they usually sell for $20 or so.
SInce you found them already it is moot, but the old oval ones WERE known as "tape recorder cords" even if other types have come to be more common on actual tape recorders.
FWIW--I just got Marlin Jones' monthly flyer and see he has uncovered a cache of these (8' long) and is offering them for $3.95 each.
They are "defective" in that the line and neutral wires are reversed, however that can be remedied--it is an inexpensive way to get the connector...
