Old Eminence coaxials

I bought a set of Beta cx12 coaxials and asd 1001 HF drivers. They sound terrible. There is no high end at all. I'm going to move the HF to a wave guide to see if that helps, and have a question about the woofers. Do I need to plug the hole where the HF driver went?

No, you do not. It can be used like that but it begs for a phase plug of some sort.

Like most horns it needs CD horn EQ to flatten it out. Also, packing the low pass filter chamber [LPF] to 'taste' with 4/0 stainless steel wool somewhat 'homogenizes' output for a smoother HF performance, i.e. poor man's phase plug. Don't recall how well damped the compression chamber is, so might want to experiment to ensure no HF reflections are modulating the diaphragm/comb filtering with the horn output before damping the LPF.
