I have a Gibson bass that someone tried to mod with the "recording" pick-up. He added several controls, one of which is labelled "Decade". Can anybody explain how this is wired or lead me to a schematic of the Les Paul Recording or similar.
The wiring in this instrument was completely stripped, so I'm starting from scratch.

Have you got a year or a S/N?
Somewhere I have a big file of schemas from Gibson from my old tech-ing days, it may take a while, but I will see what I can find.

You might find something useful here: http://www.guitar-parts.com/gibson.htm several schemes that might help.
Unfortunately this is a complete cut and paiste job someone did to a EB style bass. The recording pick-up was added and not hooked up, and extra pots were added with labeled knobs. I've been through just about every guitar schematic website you can find, and no mention of the "decade" control. I did find that the recording pick-up is wired separate from the other two, with it's own output jack. Supposed to be used to connect directly to a recording console. The pick-up has very few windings (compared to regular pick-up) so it's impedance and noise level are very low, as is it's output.
I'm going to wire the normal pick-ups similar to a Ripper bass, but I'd like to utilise the decade control as well.

Everything you always wanted to know about the LPR but were afraid to ask:

edit: Ooops, I just noticed that the forum is a dead link on that page. Maybe you can email the webmaster?

No, I know the link I gave is good, but the link on that page to the forum is dead. If the forum was still up and running, I'm sure a member could have pointed you to a schematic. Good luck!
Yeah, your right, the forum there seems to be gone. I'm going to improvise the rest of the circuit at this point.
Thanks to all for yor help. Scott, guitar-parts.com did indeed have what I was looking for. Looked right at it and never saw it originally. Brain cramp I guess. The Les Paul Recording schematic is just what I wanted, just had to change some values to better suit a bass.
Thanks again
