Hi DQ828,
Did you try right-clicking on the Mathcad Explorer icon, and then choosing "Run as administrator"? Plus there are some other options via right-click. I got it working on XP, Vista and Win7. If you provide more info, I would be happy to give you what little knowledge I have 🙂
Where did you download it from?
Hi DQ828, you can get the free Mathcad Explorer 8 at Martin J. King's site, Quarter Wavelength Loudspeaker Design, the same place where you get a license to his worksheets. (Click on "Upgraded Mathcad Computer Models." He also has a Yahoo forum which is very useful.
That free Mathcad Explorer 8 does not let you save your work, so for greater convenience, a number of users have invested in the version of Mathcad 14 which comes bundled with a certain Mathcad book. If you are a student or work at a school, you can get the academic version (~$120 US). The straight commercial version is pretty expensive by comparison. Unlike Mathcad 8, the newer versions require you to enter a license key while connected to the Internet (a process which is not completely fool-proof but do-able).
(I'm assuming you are already aware that it's necessary to purchase a license for Martin's work, which is flat-out the bargain of the century.) I would advise you to join his Yahoo group as well.

I am looking to do a 3-way bipole and the MJK software seems limited to a full range with dual woofers. IS there any way around this?

Yes I purchased the licence but gave up on it all because I couldn't get Mathcad to play ball, I will have another go. Thanks

I was wrong it was a licence to ABC Dipole I purchased. I have managed to get Mathcad Explorer going after many attempts. I have had a rethink though, at the moment I am trying to learn so much (designing OB speakers, DSP implementation, HolmImpulse, ABC Dipole etc) I am spreading myself very thin & not getting anywhere fast. I have decided not to add another software package to the list. Thanks for the assistance, when the fog clears I may give it a go.
David
