I just got a Nview Viewframe Spectra (not the C one), without a power unit.
I know it needs 12V 1.5A (with a normal plug), but those adapters are very hard to find. Is 12V 2A or even 3A also ok?
i read somewhere that to much ampere's dont matter, but to few may even destroy the panel .. is that true?

ofcourse
it's ok as long as the voltage matches then the amps can be equal or higher ....
if you have a radio shack, check out the price, then go to a website lilke allectronics.com or bgmicro.com or goldmine-elec.com
you can compare and see who and what is cheaper. Do NOT take a smaller than 1.7 Amp !!!!!!! I knwo all about it! I have been following the video forum since aug. 2002

hmm i have a 12V 4.3A here, wouldn't that be to much ampere's to handle?
i'm getting a 12V 3A next week, i think i'll wait for that...
or does it really not matter?

well
it really does not matter!
you can use a 12 Volts, 20 amps if you want to.
I am pretty stupid but this I know cause I have the same panel and have used it on a car battery (at a garden party!!!!!) and believe me a car battery has a hell lot more amps than your little power supply
be sure that it is DC that is given OK, don't want AC to get inside the pannel
Yo de manne!!!!!

je zegt daar : " without the C" is dat een zwart wit versie?????

Re: Re: Nview Viewframe Spectra power
No, it's color but it only has 4000 colors while the C version has 262.000 colors.
**** i think i used an AC adapter with 4.3A, the LED's went on, and i even saw the my computer screen on it but very weird so i put it off.
do you think this could have destroyed my panel??
i'm gonna look for a dc adapter now 🙂

i would just like to say thanks from u guys for helping me out!...
i recieved my nview spectra the other day from ebay 12 squid postage included today with out wires.
i had no idea what to power it with, but read a little and searched around and found a 12v 1.5a dc adapter.....it seems to be working although i dont have the vga cord or ohp yet 🙁
i got horizonital black lines going up and the fans working which seemed to be a good sign to me.
going back home from uni tommorow to me mams house and just remembered there is a monitor that never worked in the garage that i could cut the cord off and us the pinout diagram from fender4 in another post to atach.....thanks again to everybody
i doubt this thing is going to be amazing seeing that the spectra only uses about 4000 colours (yes that is right seems a bit low compared to some of the amazing diy jobs u badboys have got going on 🙂 ) however maybe it will be decent for all my anime movies ive got....what do u think?
gunna spent the next few months trying to find a ohp as cheap as i can find and maybe retrofit it with a metal halide 400w hydroponic kit i found on ebay for 45 squid.
time for me to stop drinking and stop chatting me thinks.
any suggestions would be good...and if u are in the uk or even better london and u have some thing that would help with my project, that would be amazing.
laters mateys 🙂
p.s i think this is probably more than i wrote for my dissertation...haha
