I thought after McMaster died, so did the efforts to bring the concept to light. However, looks like US government sponsored research picked it up:
"the authors are confident that further development of this unique engine cycle will produce a heavy fuel engine that is unrivaled in regards to compactness and high power density for a multitude of applications"
I'm not sure what "heavy fuel" means. Does diesel count? I'd love to try one of these in a car, given the excellent power to weight ratio, and efficiency due to decreased thermal loss.
