So in a previous thread i was asking about quality of the subs and amp i had.. unfortunetly i no longer have them but did get a nother set for cheap.
I have a sony xplod 600 watt amp. A sony xplod 12" 2000 watt sub and a infinity 12" 2000 watt sub both at 4 ohms and in the same box. i mounted my amp on the back of the sub box. I set it up so i could hook my amp up to the factory head unit, using a high to low converter so i could use the RCA jacks already run in the car. The converter is a Metra CK-AJLO, and i cant find any info on their site. I bought it from Pep Boys.
So my problem is that originally i had it set up that i had one sub hooked up to one terminal on the amp, like positive wire to positve terminal negative to negative, for both. And could only get one sub to work off i believe it was the right terminal. Then i was told to bridge my amps and connect the positive sub wires and connect them to the positive one the right, and connect the negatives to the negative on the right(or vis versa). Then they both worked but didnt sound as good as when just one was working. So i went to the back of the amp and tried some tuning, all i did was take the amp from 1 ohm to 3 ohms, and when i reconnected the RCA jacks(cables arent long enough for my to move subs without disconnecting) i got nothing at all, and I've tried everything that i could think of, tried bring the ohms and levels down, tried going back to the way i originally had the subs wired. nothing work, so then i took my multimeter and made sure i had power to the sub, and checked the ground. then i disconnected my subs and took a 9 V battery to them to make sure i didnt blow the subs(trick my dad taught me, dont know if its common, or even correct) and they worked, so then i put the meter to the rca jacks to see if i was getting input and didnt get anything. But got nothing, even though my rear speakers are still getting power(which is what i connected the converter to) so i figured obviously its the converter, but its brand new, and i have no clue what i could have done for it to stop working. Sorry this is so long, but i really need help, im going insane from all this. any help input suggestions greatly appreciated. I JUST WANT MY SUBS TO WORK!

Gain setting recomendation
i couldnt find any info on the Metra line level converter CK-AJLO, but check to see if there are two gain controls on the converter, to boost or attenuate the audio signal, some times they come set to the lowest gain setting from factory to avoid damage to the speakers.

ok, i went to adjust the gain on the converter and one of the adjusters broke, so i brought it back to pep boys and luckely i got a new guy and i was able to return it with out them asking questions.
i replaced the old with the new, and adjusted the gain and still nothing, i tried running a new ground cable because my other one was smaller than my power cable, so i found ones that matched. so it seems like its my amp that is no good. does any one know what i can do to check to make sure all the parts to it are still good, or other adjustments i could try to my Sony Xplod 600 Watt 2 channel amp. and what would be the best way to wire my subs to it (bridge, parallel, series, or any others)

does your converter box have a seperate ground wire on it?
Some boxes must have a chassis ground to work.

yea it has a ground. i tried running it to the amp because the box for the converter said to if i have no output, and nothing happend
Perhaps take your set-up to a car stereo shop and have them have a look and give you a quote to install it properly.
