Usually the components are carrying their own part of the spectrum so you don't have to add or divide impedances. For example if you have an 8 ohm woofer, 6 ohm mid and a 4 ohm tweeter, the impedance would usually be 8 ohms as the bass uses the most power and is where you have to be careful not to overload your amp. If you have a 4 ohm woofer, 6 ohm mid and an 8 ohm tweeter, you would look at that as a 4 ohm system. If you have two 8 ohm woofers in parallel, you end up with 4 ohms and conversely two 8 ohm woofers in series will add up to 16 ohms.
