I have eight of these in a mic preamp and they're causing some white noise, so thinking of replacing them, but seems that i can only find NJM opamps with the 8-in-a-row layout. Does anyone know of a good replacement for the 4560 with this layout other than the NJM4580?
8-in-a-row leaves not much more than NJM4580. It is however possible to use a DIL 16 quadruple opamp in a clever way. One of the forummembers showed us how to do that but I can't find the post... IIRC it can be soldered in vertically and only one wire is needed at the "other"side for supply voltage. Now the search for low noise quadruple opamps can begin.
If noise is the main concern, NE5532 is hard to beat ! You'll need adapters then unfortunately.

Can do it without an adaptor
As per a suggestion made earlier by someone on DIYAudio, just take your DIP8 replacement and straighten out pins 1-4. They correspond with pins 1-4 on your eight-in-a-row 4560. Then bend pins 5-8 on the replacement under, and connect short wires to go to the holes for 5-8 where the 4560 was. Done.
I'm about to do exactly this on a tuner. Norman
