Why not use an lm7915 from another maker? No reason to use the original part. It will set you back 25 cents or so, they are dirt cheap.
Maybe because Mr. Witt wants explicitly that version as the positive regulator is by the same brand and of the same series. Maybe they turned out the be lower noise than the cheap 25 cent versions. Maybe it its about better perceived quality that is preferred instead of choosing cheap as most important parameter. Maybe it is just esthetically. Maybe Mr. Witt has a psychological thingie that makes him like pronouncing "Nisshinbo" as mantra over and over again. Just some reasons why someone may wish for a specific version.
If the 25 cent versions would have been a good option then this thread would not exist. Not every 78xx and 79xx measure the same. Some excel in lower noise than usual.

ShinNihonMusen have merged with Nisshinbo.
I have tried njm5534d and muses03d opamp which came from ShinNihonMusen and both sounded nice.

Nisshinbo-san, it could be an idea to replace regulators positive and negative in both channels for the quite good and possibly even better Onsemi versions. Optical/esthetical symmetry is one of the ways we perceive as beauty (I once read this is the case with female faces).
