Hi.
After a visit at steenoe, some months ago, where he played some music, from a turntable, i simply had to, have this myself... so i started collecting part's for building the pass pearl mm-phonostage.
Recently i bought a Thorens TD316 (mkII ???), for 40Eur, which ofcause needed a 'clean-up'. I will post some picture's of it here, along with the tonearm, and i have some quistion's too :
1. Could any recommend a nice pickup for this ? (pricegroup around 100-120Eur.)
2. Where do i get a "protractor", and is this the thing for alligning the pickup ? (Heard that's its possible to download a printable)
Sure some more quistion's will come along the way...
First a picture of the tonearm...

Thats a great looking grammo🙂 I am sure you will be happy with the sound of it😉 Did you change the bearing lubrication? If not, you should.

one of the 500 series or OM ortofons should be a good choice for the low mass tonearm of your Thorens.

Hey.. I was offline for a few, day's, and thanks for reply's...
I found a protractor here http://www.vinylengine.com/manuals_tonearm_protractors.shtml
It's a specific one for Thoren's tonearm's with 'Suitable for those Thorens tonearms that have a mounting distance of exactly 215.6mm. See enclosed instructions for compatible tonearms.' ! So after fiddiling a little with the scaling it, it was useful.
I bought a new Grado prestige silver pickup at 1/2 price 😀 Which should give around 4mV out.
I have tried hooking the grammo up, with an old Pioner A90, and it's sounding pretty good. But i got a little humming, Is this normal ? I mean, as far as i can recall, there used to be a little hum, and hiiss when playing grammo ? - And is there something i can do to elliminate it ? - What about the sound from the pearl, can i belive it would be better, than the build in riaa at this old pioneer ? I guess so, but any comment would be nice...

Do some experiments with the earth path, you might get lucky. On the other hand if hum is low enough, forget about it and enjoy the music
