I have been thinking about buying the following:

Outlaw 770 (200 watts RMS x 7)

3 pair of Level THREE Tower Speaker

But now I am thinking I can build the amp my self. I want to build the amp myself because when it breaks I want to be able to fix it myself. I also think it would be fun to build it and save some money at the same time.

I want to build an amp that can power the speakers above well. I would need seven channels. This setup is used mainly for movies. Should I build an individual amp for each channel to prevent crosstalk? Should I go class, A, A/B, etc..?

Can you guys point me in the right direction? Maybe a kit or some primers, faq, how to, guides, etc..

are you sure you can safe money with 7*200W class A ? please think about the transformer and heatsink you would need....

go and build 7 * 30 or 50 W gainclones. just use search function and search for "gainclone"

Matt...I encourage you to build something.....but...for a beginner all of that is advanced projects......go with something easy at first and blow it up like most of have......good to have you here and read alot in the forum ....and thats not an excuse for an answer.....everyone here can continue your questions here

I'm not looking to build a clone of the outlaw 770. But a amp the can power the speaker well. I mentioned the 770 to show what I was thinking about buying and spending.

With enough research and preparation I am sure I could build an advance amp. I think I will start off by building a headphone amp first. Then invest the time and money for a SS amp.

Would you guys recommend a pass lab design for my app?

not for seven channels



building a pass Zen, aleph etc. is the right way to do go diy. But for 7 channels take a look at the gainclones. Build one channels, easy and costs about nothing. Then test it with the speakers.
