Hey guys I have pot that seems it has gone completely loose (Moving it around does nothing) so I opened up my little 2.1 Yamaha speaker's controller and find that the wheel on the pot spins, is still connected to the pot but does not seem to engage anything anymore..
How do I go about to know what kind of potentiometer I Need to replace it?
It has 7 connections to the PCB (2 really larger ones that seem to hold the casing to the PCB) 3 smaller ones and 2 longer ones.
I can include a picture of what it looks like if that can help you guys give me some info!

A photo would be useful.
Has the pot got any numbers on it? That would identify the component and by typing that number into a search engine, will hopefully lead you to a supplier.

I know its an ALPS (japan) now that I looked up I was able to wiggle the rod out of it and if I use a pair of plyers I can move the little center piece and get volume so it seems it only that it broke... I'd still think the best fix would be to solder in a new one right?
Another newb question would be if I'm just interested in having it work and don't mind much for stock POT, is it hard to fit a different pot configuration?
Here is the pot I accidently destroyed one the rings on the PCB that were intended to be soldered onto it burned through... I guess I can manually wire that missing connection on the connector by follow the route.
I'm just confused I want to rig a POT from an old amp I have it has 6 connectors I'm just trying to find the conversion equivalence to what pole needs to be soldered to which on this one.
