new member, from Canada

tomchr, I am located in Montreal. I am trying to fix a 270 SA needing a thump relay; a Google search led me to this site because there was a QED discussion regarding that part, with the suggestion that a DiyAudio member may still have a spare; as regards the T4A, it just will blow you out of the room, and that is too much base and at 100 w per channel, good for someone who has magnaplaners or something but at my age not my cup of tea; paid 660 US plus shipping and tax, so would want to recoup a good bit of that. Right now trying to focus on the 270, which preamps fine through a QED P300, but has channel out issues, fortunately opens rather than shorts.

Ah! The reason I asked is that I'm organizing a group in Calgary where we meet up every few months. But I guess the 5-hour flight from Montreal would be a bit much to ask... 🙂 But should you ever be in this end of the country you're more than welcome to join.

Mouser and Digikey are good places to find relays. With some (OK, lots of) luck you'll be able to find an exact match by typing in the part number. If not, you'll have to get the calipers out and measure the pin spacing. Compare that with the footprint for various relays (check their data sheets). It'll take some work but I bet you'll be able to find something that'll work. If not, my Guardian-86 will do the job.
