Hello Everyone, new to this forum, but impressed never the less.
Electronics is not my first calling, more a mechanical person, but
have a maintained an interest over the years probably because of
my hifi hobby. Thinking about doing a honey badger amp or
something of that nature initially, Would that be realistic goal for
a first project? Soldering is no problem having managed some board
repair work before, but my lack of total understanding regarding
the electronic theory behind some of the circuit designs is
somewhat apprehensive.

Welcome aboard. I'm not an amp person so I can't help but maybe take the question over to another area of the forum. Good luck.
Welcome to the forum. If you spend the time to read the thread, and follow directions well, you don't need to have a lot of amplifier theory knowledge. The threads on this forum are pretty thorough. If you have patience and a willingness to learn, you should be able to get the help you need to complete that project. I have found this group to actually be helpful instead of candascending like so many other forums on the web. Good group of lads here.
