new idea for anamorphic picture at full rez

Has anyone tried to bend the second fresnel after the LCD in a split fresnel design so that it can compress the picture vertically making an anamorphic image from the 4:3 LCD. It seems to me that if we had a clear fresnel of the right type of plastic it could be held at the edges in a proper arc to produce an anamorphic image. This would eliminate the need for a light robbing external anamorphic lens.

Too much bend would probably not work but a slight bend might be within the fresnels usable angular field. I have heard that tilting the fresnel slightly can be used to adjust for keystoning effects and the thought occurred to me that this was a possibility.

One concern I have

One concern I have about this approach is that we are using the second fresnel after the LCD for light convergence only. It is not a focusing lens, therefore, I wonder if the anamorphic lens would have to be part of the main objective assembly. Please let me know if anyone has a soft enough fresnel to try this.
