New(bie) project

First off, BIG thanks to everyone on these forums. I've been reading for about a month now, and have learned a lot. Hopefully, I'll manage to avoid some of the more obvious pitfalls as a result.

Got my "old school" 400w MH light and fixture today.... HUGE, but mighty bright. Gotta reduce the size and manage the temp on it.

Picked up a "Sony Delta 16-OC" lens. Looks like it came from an older CRT projection set. Short throw, large magnification. Object needs to be about an inch behind the barrel to project. Any suggestions on adapting it (condenser lens?) so I can use a 15"lcd or similar focussed into it would be greatly appreciated.

Computer show this weekend, I'm going to be looking for a lcd panel / monitor. After that, I think I'll only be needing fresnels, cooling, and cabinetry to put it all together.

Again, thank you all for the effort and insights already provided. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Greg

p.s. I'll post pics as soon as I have more parts to photograph 🙂

You are correct... the LCD would need to be one inch behind the barrel of the lens. Maximum would be about a 5" diagonal, which would be ok for ps2 games and such (barely), but not for movies.

I'm going to try taking this lens apart and get some pics / drawings of it on here and see if anyone has any ideas....
