Hi I am just about to start building my 7" lilliput projector this week or next. I will show all the stages in my projector build (with pics). I would really appreciate it if people can help me out. I hope you enjoy:
Lilliput LCD http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....me=STRK:MEWN:IT
Lamp, ballast, ignitor etc from
http://www.internationallamps.co.uk/
Optics Set from
http://www.exclusiv-online.com/shop...oduct&art=OSET1
Could some people give some advice on my plans for this build, especially the placement of fans as this is of upmost importance!!
The first diagram shows one fan blowing air through the light box and the other one sucking it out the other end. Would this be a good move, or would the fan position on the diagram below be a better option...having them on top of the light box, both sucking hot air out the top???
...Any thoughts appreciated!!!
I am starting building this week or next, just waiting on couple parts...will be posting pics as I go along smile.gif
...Cheers!

Hi Merley,
It's looking good 😉 The only thing I'd comment on is that you may have problems with heat buildup on the fresnel/LCD as I don't see any fans/filters protecting them.
As for the lightbox fans, I'd be inclined to go with the first solution, adding some ducting to the 'Air In' fan and get it ported to the outside of the box, otherwise it'll just be blowing hot air about.

Hi Quin, yeah I was thinking about putting a 120mm fan on the roof over light path - fresnel - lcd. What do you think of this?
Also what do you mean exactly by "adding some ducting to the 'Air In' fan and get it ported to the outside of the box"?
I thought that maybe a couple on top of the lightbox may be a good different idea just sucking all the hot air out? What ya think? Would it work?
Cheers mate 😉

Hi mate,
Nice one 🙂 Hope that tape doesn't burst into flames
😉
When I mentioned ducting for the input fan, I meant having the fan ported to the outside of the box, using some a metal as a tunnel of sorts so the light unit gets cooler air.
If you have a temperature probe it'd be useful to help show which method is best. If I put a probe behind the reflector it hangs around the high 30C's. As soon as a I cut the airflow it quickly jumps well into the 70C's at which point I get worried and turn the fan back on 😀

thanks for the reply quin, i was supposed to show few more pics last night, but forum was messin me over.
There is supposed to be a fan air out also at end of light system - maybe a 120mm fan (pic below). So do you think this air system would work well, seems good in testeing, obviously I still gotta make the case - strap the Air In Fan to outside of case, then that aluminium would be flush against the case.
I also plan to get a fan to cool my lcd/fresnels etc.....
Thanks 🙂

I'd probably switch the fans around so that the input didn't have the big resistive corner, but in practice I doubt it'd make much difference.
Look forward to seeing more 🙂
