Hi, does anybody know the max. rated V for this step-up/down 4:1 transformer? I'd like to try it in my proto of a tube preamp, to decrease the gain and in place of a coupling capacitor, before I order something fancy like Lundahl. The voltage at the ouput is about 180-185V, current probably not more than a few mA (last stage is the White cathode follower).
Aint that right! Decreasing gain can be done a different more efficient way. This seems a secret unknown to many tube guys.
NTE-4 (a 1:4 step up microphone transformer) is also very allergic to DC. A coupling cap should be used anyway so there is not much gained by inserting it.
