My Arta slicing (using overlays) is producing an error message I have never encountered before, already discussed in one of the German forums. I need to slice and merge three files, a farfield, nearfield and port nearfield. Responses are scaled and baffle step also adjusted. Can be merged in between 285Hz-450Hz.
Unfortunately, Calc under Libreoffice which I really enjoy, seems to need the macros rewritten so cannot use the FRD Blender that Charlie has developed, so no plan B.
Would someone be willing to help? Cannot upload .frd by some reason so have to e-mail you 🙂

Go get the Omnimic software from the Dayton Audio website (you don't need to have an Omnimc hardware). You can load FRD files in as "Added Files", set what frequency range you want from each, and output the spliced. If you want, for each it can even scale dB, adjust delays, add smoothing, and when making a combined file blend between overlayed frequency ranges or interpolate between them.
Thanks a lot, will try it later for sure! BTW, I`ve been using your Xsim for years, very nice contribution to the DIY-community, thanks!
I got OmniMic - nice piece of kit, however it produces the following error when I try to save the joint curve: List index out of bounds (0) error
Any solution to this?

Hm,no, hadn't seen that one. Can you send me the files you used and what settings you're using when splicing them? Does it happen when splicing the first two files and saving?
Splicing works fine, when I tried to save the combined .frd it produced this error. I saw a few threads on the parts-express forum but no replies.
I would appreciate if you could try the two files, perhaps there is a zero reference line somewhere in them that produces the error? Would you PM me with your e-mail, please? Thanks!

Plan B could be using VituixCAD for baffle simulation, merging, other pre-processing and crossover simulation. That accepts also comma as decimal symbol and two frequency points in frd/txt with exactly equal frequency. Those two are the most common features some other programs cannot handle without error message or crashing.
I have already applied bsc in Arta for the baffle I use in this project. It is in fact the first time I am getting an error with Arta so asked for advice and tried OmniMic which produced the above issue...
The bug you mentioned is more or less historical. Please try latest release of ARTA.
It would be interesting to hear how you manage the merging of the three files (step by step).
Regards
Heinrich

Thanks for pointing me to VirtuixCAD!

Hello Heinrich,
I believed I have the latest version of it 1.8.5 but I now see there`s a new 1.9.1 version since Feb 2017. Thanks for pointing this out, will try it too but that means repeating all measurements...I`d still appreciate if anyone wants to join these for me.

I can try to join if not already done. e-mail address is at the end of homepage index.
Guess also REW can merge those three files, in first step edit all three files into any text editor deleting rows of outside frq of interest, then import to REW and offset all three to 0dB level at a common frq point for the three files, now at "All SPL" tab then "Controls" use "Trace Arithmetic" to generate two at a time (more specific is take first file and x with second file and take sum those two and x with third file should produce merged result than then can be exported as txt/frd file).
EDIT if phase is important above won't work (needs IR-wav file then) because it produce either none or flat phase, but if goal is to get merged amplitude response above should work.

There is no need to do the measurements again. It should work with the old pir files.

This case with VituixCAD Merger. Levels were already equal, but -28 µs (-10 mm) time offset was needed for near field response to match phase. Sharp transition (without blending) is okay at 470 Hz.
Almost the simplest possible task for this app.
