Hello,
I am thinking of making a pair of tube monoblocks, and am hoping someone here could recommend a good generic design of a KT-88 ultra-linear amplifier. I'm sure there are plenty of proven and not too fancy designs around, from those in the know.
I have perfectly serviceable soldering and construction skills, so just a schematic - as long as the iron is available - will be fine. More of course (parts list, etc.) would be fine too.
Thanks so much in advance! 🙂

Here are specs on Dyna's transformers. http://www.triodeel.com/images/dynaxfmr.pdf
New transformers: DYNACO Replacement Transformers - MADE IN USA
New transformers: Transformers
Some manuals/schematics are here. http://www.dynakitparts.com/manuals
ALso the RCA tube manual is good. http://www.tubebooks.org/tubedata/RC30.pdf

Edcor "iron" is more affordable than the "Dynaclone" and is highly suitable. Check Edcor's model CXPP100-3.3K out.
Mullard style circuitry is tried and true, along with being "idiot resistant". IMO, Mullard style is a safe choice. Search the archives for similar projects.

Check out Pete Millett's universal PP driver board: Push-pull KT88 class A amp with "universal" driver PCB

I second dynaco path.
Multiple suppliers of transformers, lots of knowledge and large margins for experimantation

Also lots of third party driver boards, from clones of the original to exotic.
Hundreds of thousands of Dyna tube amps were sold, mostly as kits,
mostly to novices.
Bob Latino has a couple of first rate kits assembled. http://www.tubes4hifi.comHello,

Thanks so much for the great responses! 😀
I hadn't thought about using a kit, but I have to admit the Dyna(semi)clone kits look pretty sweet, especially Bob's Mk III. That is a real contender.
However, I also really liked the link to Pete Millett's designs. I especially like the idea of solid state regulation, such as with his 'Engineer's Amp'.
Engineer's amp 50W monoblock
All replies much appreciated. Anybody else?

There's TubeMack’s Soloist 88 Amplifier from this site (IIRC) and Kara Chaffee of deHavilland Electric Amplifier had a Dynaco MkIII mod in AudioXpress Mar 2001. And the Poseidon amp from diytube.com. Triode has the boards for this one.
And Bob Cordell's KT88 from Linear Audio Vol. 2. edit -- it's a pentode-connected KT88 design.

I hope I did this right. Here's a start for you:
