I bought a Sony direct drive turntable with a Shure V15 Type V cartridge around 1984. I think I used it lightly for a couple of years, then put it away. I have since unloaded my record collection and now need to do the same with the table in preparation for a move.
I don't think the table is worth much, particularly since the cover is really bad. But looking at eBay I see many used V15 type Vs selling for $200 +. Mine has the original stylus and I don't think it had much wear on it.
How can I figure out what stylus it has on it? It may well be MR, but I just don't remember what I bought now 35 years ago. How else can I evaluate it and try to sell it for a fair price? Any ideas would be appreciated.

It has a low numbered serial number, black on silver label. No lettering on body.
Any idea what this looks like (besides dirty)? HE tip or MR or what? I stuck a loupe on my LG G3 to get this. I can retake to show something more identifiable if need be.

Try reposting the photo directly.
It's a good picture, unless I am mistaken that cantilever looks like boron/be or similar. (Not AL)
I would try posting it here in the swap meet before listing on eBay, you may get a bit less, but ultimately walk away with more in your pocket since there are no fees.

How is this?
Oddly, the closest description is for the VN-5P, but that can't be right.
Maybe Shure can look it up from the serial number.
just to clarify:
all the V15V with HE (hyper-elliptical - VN5HE stylus) diamonds also had beryllium cantilevers (V15V - V15V B - V15V P). And the "silver SHURE on black background" refers to the colour of the "black" stabiliser - (not the colour of the serial number on it's label).
the VN5MR stylus - has a bronze stabiliser - (silver SHURE on bronze background/stabliser)
So the stylus in Nunthewiser's pictures is a Hyper Elliptical VN5HE stylus (silver SHURE on black background/stabiliser) and his cart body is a V15V.
