Hey 🙂
Need help with a Sony STR-DE475 reciever. Picked it up a while ago for 10€ and it's been sittiing for a while and I finally got around to working on it.
Unit will not do anything when power/standby key is pressed. No lights, display, sounds, relay clicks, nothing.
Found this article: Sony Receiver Amplifier Will Not Start
Checked the standby board. The electrolytics were slightly out of spec so I replaced them. No change. Should be 5.6V on the standby rail, I measured 5.8V.
Guy I got it from said he has another working unit and when he plugged the faceplate from the working unit into this one then it powered on. I can't confirm what he said but since the standby voltage seems to be okay, maybe the problem lies in the front board?
I started checking voltages from the front board and everything seems to be there. Except on Q100 where there should be 5.5V I measured about 4.8V and on Q101 where there is supposed to be 4.8 I read something like 4.3V IIRC. I also suspected a faulty power key so I manually shorted the key but it did nothing. What to check next? 😕
Any help greatly appreciated 🙂

Hi,
have another look at Q100, Q101, IC950, D914 and D915, as seen on page 10 block diagram. Follow the suggestions at the article you had linked.
Check the STOP pin. IC950 (pin 8) may be generating this STOP signal, it may think there is poor AC power e.g. abnormal power as detected with D914 and D915.
