Hi there, first-time poster, long time lurker... I have done several searches on this subject about this, but nothing really turns up the info I need. Let me explain my situation... I just purchased a decent 15" LCD for use on a OHP : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2743599523&category=3698
I ended getting it including shipping for $197.00
Next, I need to find an OHP with a large enough stage to facilitate viewing all 15" of LCD, since the primary function of the projector will be gaming. One of my searches turned up someone suggesting cutting out some plastic on the stage, exposing more fresnel lens, but this would leave approx. 1/8" border. What is the route everyone has been following concerning this? Do all OHP's use a 10"x10" or 11"x11" stage, and all we can do is cut a little plastic, because 15"x15" fresnels are rare and expensive? I really like the setup and results that Sadd3j has gotten with his Benq LCD, and elmo SD OHP. I was entertaining going with an old Elmo OHP, then retrofitting the light with a 250w MH kit from Diylabs, just like he did. Answers, directions to info, comments welcome, thanks. 🙂

Okay, to make the question more brief, What it the best OHP to use with a 15" LCD setup, and if i'm not going to be able to see all 4 corners of the LCD, what do I need to do to modify the OHP? Like I mentioned in my last post, I searched, and couldn't find any pertinent info. -Thanks
Okay, I've bought this OHP:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2942520191
and plan on retrofitting it with the Diylabs 12.2x12.2 fresnel, and the 250w double-ended kit,
and this LCD panel:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2743600332&category=3698&rd=1
Does it appear that i'm going in the right direction with this? I think aside from maybe having problems dissecting the LCD, it should be alright. I hope I can get it to project the entire LCD, and not cut off any corners. Any input would be appreciated.
So, far, this is what i'm looking at as far as cost (including shipping):
Apollo OHP- $29.00US
Gateway 15.1" LCD panel- $197.00US
Diylabs 12.2"x12.2: fresnel, and 250 Watt MH kit- $180.00US
Total: $406.00US
I might also have to install some 120mm computer fans to keep things cool, but they aren't all that expensive. As soon as I get back home, I;ll post pics of my progress.

Okay! after a while of sweating my *** off out in the desert, i'm finally back in the states. I came home to the OHP and monitor I had bought, and just got done with ripping it apart. I've just put all the pics of both the OHP, and the LCD in a webshots album:

I'll add pics of the final results when I get my video card. The card I have now only has a VGA out, ant this panel has a DVI input. So I bought an ATI radeon 9600XT, but it's on backorder, and i'm waiting on that. I think i'm gonna have to cut on the OHP stage to put a 12"x12" fresnel in from DiyLabs.org, if resizing the displayed image using Powerstrip doesn't work. I'll keep y'all updated as I get my 250W MH kit, and Radeon card. -Lata

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

It looks like you are putting in the time and effort to do it right. I like what you've done so far. I'm interested in how you intend to extend the flat ribbons. Looking forward to seeing some results.

Yeah, it's gonna be a biatch... But the US Air Force didn't send me to High Reliability Soldering School for nothing... 😉 Right now, i'm waiting on my order from Alan @ DiyLabs, and also my ATI Radeon 9600xt to come in. Should take a few weeks.
OK, today, after a month of waiting, I finally got my 250W MH kit, and triplett lense from Alan @ DIYlabs.org. He was cool, and threw in a condenser lense with my order. I'm not too sure where to, or how to put this lense in the light path. It should go somewhere between the lamp and the fresnel correct? As far as the order of my components, this is correct, right? (Minus the triplett lense) P.S. the ribbon extension isn't going as well as planned. i'm trying my third attempt at it tomorrow morning.
