I've got a 250 metal halide M58 ballast. I've never wired anything before, so I'd like a little advice from someone with a little more experience. I know I'll be running 120 Volts, but other than that I have no idea how to wire this thing. I am planning on wiring it to a standard three prong plug, and I have the ceramic lamp socket also.
I know the one wire marked "Lamp" obviously goes to one screw on the lamp socket, but then what? Please, someone break it down potato head style for me. Thanks!
Here's a picture of the ballast itself:

Thanks a million! That answered my question perfectly. I hadn't even noticed the screws on the lamp socket were different colors. You save me a lot of time. Thanks again!

Well I tried that and it doesn't seem to be working. The ballast itself seems to get a little bit warm, but hardly noticeable. The bulb itself doesn't do anything. I'm thinking maybe the bulb is broken. It sounds like something is rattling around inside of it, but it doesn't look like anything is loose and there's nothing that I can see that's broken. Do all MH bulbs make that sound, or is mine broken?
