I've been asked to build a complete audio-system for a friends car. The only thing I'm having problem with is the crossover. I now what I want, and what circuits I'm going to use, but I can't figure out how to "program" the circuits. I've read the complete spec-sheets several times, but since I'm no electronics engineer, I can't find the information I need.
The crossover will consist of 4 separate sections, 2 bandpass for the sub, and 2 highpass for the coaxial-units. All sections will be made with Maxim MAX263 and MAX267. I also have to figure out how "far apart" the BP- and the HP-sections should be to create a total signal of 0dB where both filters meet. (You will have to excuse my poor english, but I hope you understand what I'm babbling about).
Someone told me there is a book that explains all I need to know but I haven't found it. Does anyone know of such a book?
Has anyone worked with these filter-IC's before?

Equations alone will only give you a number.
You need a program that will show the responses of the filters!
First stop-

Second-

third-
www.linearteam.dk
the WINISD PRO can make simple Circuits.however it doesnt tell you the response.
Fourth-

Actual programs that model filters properly wont come free.
Which is why,im going to buy an Active filter kitset..its easy.

there is a great filter designer online with a free and shareware version.

the filter that you need to crossover a subwoofer effectively will be an active, or "op amp" based one. If you try to use a passive network on a subwoofer, you will have to have massive inductors, and the cost will become prohibitive.
I'm very well aware of the difference between active and passive crossovers. But as I wrote in my first post, I will use Maxim's MAX263 and MAX267 to build the filters. I have read som about op-amp-based filters at linkwitzlabs.com but I wanted to use readily available filter-IC's instead.
I think I found the book I was looking for. ISBN: 0750675470
I ordered as soon as I saw it. Thougt I'd post it here in case someone else is also looking.
