need help diagnosing my dead Kingrex T20U

Can anyone help me diagnose my Kingrex T20Uamp? It get's recognized by my computer as a USB sound device and the solid blue power light lights up but no sound. No sign of burned components or nasty smell but the Tripath 2020 chip get extremely hot within 60 seconds of power-on... to hot to touch even with the attached aluminum heat sink. I measured the Kingrex PSU power supply and it showed 24 volts DC output. Is that the problem? over voltage? Perhaps my PSU is bad? I tried another 3 amp 12 volt power supply but the Kingrex amp blue light just blinks and the computer does not recognize it as an audio device - so in that case the USB is not working.

Any ideas on diagnosing or repairing? Can the 2020 chip be replaced or likely there is some other problem and it would not be worth the time to diagnose/repair? What say you circuit guru's?

thanks much in advance.

24 volts is way too hot for the TA2020. The USB chip has a 5V regulator, IIC. But maybe even it got fried. It would be a pain to replace. The TA2020 wouldn't be too bad to replace because you can pull the legs out one by one.
