Attached is a block diagram of the ambience system I am building. Only the little boxes labeled A, B, and C are DIY.
A is just an on/off audio switch.
B is a two input mixer with an on/off audio switch.
C is a two input mixer followed by an audio switch that selects between the mixer output and a third input.
All switches need to be electronic. The last time I designed and built any audio gear the op amp hadn't been invented. I think what I need is a recommendation for "CookBook" type books that covers amps and audio switches. Any comments on the basic setup would be appreciated also.
