Look for a technician who used to do warranty on these. He / she probably works out of their home these days. A bad tech may destroy your amp. Most bad techs think they are great, get references.
One problem you have to face is that Adcom was not only sold, but they moved the company down south. I don't think there are any of the original guys there anymore. That is why I'm suggesting a tech that used to do warranty on these.

Around 1992, my sister wanted a "Good" stereo system, so I researched and leveraged a friend who was an engineer at Infinity to get a pair of RS9 Kappa for employee price and went looking for amp to drive this beast. I finally settled on Adcom GFA-585.
2 years ago, she moved into a new house and asked me if I wanted the whole system, since she was going to go higher end and I jumped.
I spend $1500 to get a service guy out to her hous in California to carefully pack and ship the whole shebang out to Chicago. Since we used the word "Antique" $50,000 insurance and such, they did an over the top job in packing the beasts to Chicago.
All said and done, I had these thing in my house, and I jumped on the internet to see what I could learn about these after they had aged.
And sure enough the word "leaked capacitor" jumped at me in every post.
I opened up the Amp and stuck my finger around the capacitors on the driver board and sure enough, wetness.
I called around and found a guy willing to work on them and after 2 months and of threatening to sue the guy since he wasn't releasing the amp to me, I finally got back "Fixed" and $300 less. I tested and he actually did some work and the DC offset wasn't in the 100's like before but was still in the high duble digits even after settling down.
I don't know what He did, but I do not feel good about this amp and I want to build on this amp to get my Kappa 9 sounding good.
So long story short, I am looking for a reputable person who will take personal care of the amp and do the things necessary to make it "GOOD" again and within reason do some QUALITY upgrade.

Well, I am not in the best of health right now. I want to get ahead of the work that is waiting for me. There are techs in the USA who can do a top notch job for you. For me, possibly later.
They need to use an ultrasonic cleaner to properly do the job. Now, there are a couple fellas that did do their own boards successfully. There are also a couple technicians that have done this work. I can't recall exactly who has done what, but you have probably read those posts.
One thing that might work if you can't find anyone would be to send the driver boards up. This makes a small, light package and cuts down on costs a lot. You would still need someone to remove the boards and to reinstall them, then set the bias current. I don't need to adjust those controls when doing the work.
I will stress that you should find someone closer to you if you can. As a last resort, you could ship the entire amp up after I get my current workload down. You may want to leave the amp disconnected until it has been repaired properly.
BTW, I'm sorry to hear that the shop you did use couldn't handle the job.
