NEC Extension Cable???

I was wondering if the connector in the picture (near my thumb) looks familiar to anyone? This is an NEC nl6448bc20-08 panel, with the CCFL assembly removed. It's a 6.5" true VGA panel w/ 250:1 aspect ratio.

I had hoped to buy a digitalview controller and use this for a small panel projector with a Delta IV and cropping, but this connector is getting in my way. The ribbon cable going to it is too short for the PCB to be flipped down when it is connected. I'm beginning to think it is a bust (no biggie, just 30 dollars down the tubes). It looks as if it has about 250 pins in a connector no bigger than half of my thumbnail (included is a picture of my thumb for reference). I still like to entertain the thought of it still being useable w/ an extension cable of some sort, considering it is not directly soldered to the glass.

Otherwise, anyone interested in the panel for an auto pc? A controller and cables (I already have the inverter) go for around 170 from digitalview, and I know Earth sells this panel and a controller as a kit for somewhere to the tune of 790 dollars US. I haven't tested the panel, I got it from someone who tried to sell it on ebay a while back. Actually I found it on this older thread NEC Proto Type 5 Inch Screen (it's actually 6.5"). I have all of the casing shown in the thread, and it would make a cool little project if it can't be used for projection. I was thinking of a dual monitor card and modding my case with it to show winamp visualizations, and this thing is supposedly really bright.

Anyways, not to get off the subject, does anyone have any suggestions? Should I give up on a small panel high res (I wanted to be the first to use this, but damn NEC for not catering to us DIYers)? Or has there been any more info on the PSone screens being able to run VGA? Anyways, thanx in advance for any advice you can give me.

P.S. I'm a newbie to this board, but a well-read newbie.
