Hey guys,
I have my desktop in a corner of my living room. Regularly I like to listen to music at my desktop while my family is watching TV. No more explanation needed, I think 🙄.
Is it possible to design speakers for my desktop with a very narrow dispersion pattern? I think about a 2.1 setup with small 2-way monitors next to my screen facing straight to my ears. Just to minimize the SPL spreading to the rest of the room.
Are there drivers with typical narrow dispersion or should I use kind of a horn? Any advice welcome!

1) Use headphones.
2) Can you put sound deadening screens or panels around your desktop?
3) You could also make a slot horn type thingy but made out of BAF or similar that kills the sound at wide angles from the speaker(s).
4) Any true bass at any volume will be slightly more difficult to manage.

Hey Jerms, I just focus on solutions on speaker side. Don't consider headphones or screens around me.
I know about the bass. That will be under my desktop. But midbass should be managed by the monitors.

normaly one wants wide dispersion when sitting close to the speakers, but maybe some open baffle / planar speakers would suite you?
Normaly yes, but my question is little less normal.normaly one wants wide dispersion when sitting close to the speakers, but maybe some open baffle / planar speakers would suite you?
OB? Planars? Are those 'narrow' and do they fit on my desk?
