i bought this unit with door sticking issues upon opening it up found that the laser was dead, i purchased a cheap knock off kss210a to replace it but upon installing it that one does not work,is there a way to test these to make sure power is making it to the laser? i assumed they both were bad when i applied power there is no red light in the laser indicating the unit is actually working.all i get is err code under the s on the front panel.
Hi, I think you forgot to remove the ESD (electrostatic discharge) shorting
links on the tiny pcb where the flexible cable goes.Just use a desoldering pump or solder wick .That should get it operational.😉 There is no need to calibrate just plug and play.
Do not look directly at laser ( 12 o'clock or directly above, look at a distance and angle to prevent eye damage).
regards.

Hi, There is the possibility that the flexible cable may be damaged
in the first place due to age or to much bending when the laser
module goes back and forth and human handling like insertion
and removal. Regards.
I'm not familiar with the MB2 but are you sure all the conditions are correct for the laser to emit. Normally you only see the laser light during a focus search routine (when the lens moves up/down 3 times or so). All other times it is off unless playing.
Are you sure it is not a mechanical problem with the loading mech giving incorrect info to the system control IC ?
