I got a Nak. Dragon cassette deck and i have a Nak RM-580R remote and i was wondering if i could convert this remote control unit to work with the Dragon.

The Dragon was desighned to use only the RM-20 remote that has a wire that goes from the remote directly to the decks 8 pin socket at the back.

The RM-580R remote was desighned for the other Nak decks and it has a unit that goes in the deck and the remote itself is wireless.

Has anyone try this ?

The layout of the pins are diferent so it doesnt work on the Dragon .

It can be used with:

1000 ZXL , 700 ZXE , 700 ZXL , ZX 5 , LX 3 , LX 5 , ZX 7 , ZX 9 , 580 , 580 M , 581 , 581 Z , 582 , 582 Z , 680 , 680 ZX , 681 ZX , 682 ZX ,

I found out that it can be converted to work with the dragon and i need a ac adapter but do not know where i have to solder it on the unit and i have to re- arange the 8 pin layout too.

Squeak Noise while Transport is Engaged or Disengaged

My device of this model makes a squeak, bot only when the transport is engaged or disengaged.
The same issue is show (in German) with some pics here:
Nakamichi Dragon quietscht bei Stop, Hifi-Klassiker - HIFI-FORUM
unfortunately the mentioned solution (replacing belt) don't provide the wanted effect.
Who can help ?
Thank you for adfvices.

This is a a common problem with this nakamichi squeaking noise and is an easy fix.

Locate the cam drive gear, it is directly driven by the cam control motor through the rubber belt.

Put a little drop of oil (sewing machine oil) onto the shaft of the cam drive gear, put oil on both sides of the shaft, oly a tiny drop.

Engage the play and stop mode repeatedly and make sure the gear will move without making any noise.

Exact this was the right solution - thank you very much for this advice.
Now I observe the absense of each squeaking noise.
